The Weil Osteotomy is a surgical technique that is used to shorten a metatarsal of the foot. I have not paid much attention to it in the past. The latest Podiatry Today has a debate on it with two prominent DPM’s arguing for and against it. I did not realise that there was such disagreement about this surgical technique. It did not take much digging to find some strong opinions on both side of the fence about the Weil Osteotomy. I have not come across this before. Following on from the Podiatry Today debate, Podiatry Arena is running a poll on the Weil Osteotomy. If you are for or against the Weil Osteotomy, contribute to the discussions.
